Khalifa International Tennis Stadium - Doha, Qatar
Khalifa International Tennis Stadium was originally constructed with a capacity of 4,106 spectators however to satisfy WTA requirements had to be extended to 6,911 with the addition of three semi-permanent and demountable grandstands and associated stairs and bridges. In 2014 the Qatar Olympic Committee commissioned a complete regeneration of the stadia extension.
We have consistently found their expert project management services to deliver highly successful outcomes, even in extremely challenging circumstances. We would have no hesitation in recommending WNY for any similar services in the future regardless of scope and scale.”
Plan, lead and manage the works ensuring substantial completion within 150 days from the Letter of Award in time for an inspection by the WTA.
The entire programme was highly aggressive and the substantial completion date was immovable due to the WTA inspection ahead of the 2015 tournaments. The development and management of the supply chain, fabrication, mobilisation and construction of the stadia extension was exceptionally challenging within the 150-day period and the constraints imposed by a bespoke contract environment. The works included primary & secondary steel work, façade, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and ultra low voltage installations.
The stadia extension was renewed and approved safe for use by the WTA enabling the 2015 men’s and women’s tennis tournaments to be held at the Khalifa complex. The main contractor’s reputation in the local market was significantly enhanced and the project was extremely successful commercially.
