BIG Serpentine Pavilion - Principal Contractor
18 November 2016
The Serpentine Pavilion, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), is an 'unzipped wall' that is transformed from straight line to three-dimensional space. The dramatic space has by day acted as a cafe, and by night plays host to the Serpentine Galleries acclaimed series of performing arts.
WNY in collaboration with global delivery partner; Astound; worked closely with architects BIG, and consulting engineers AKTII to develop the methodology for the safe and successful deconstruction and relocation of the pavilion. WNY then acted as Principal Contractor for the removal and reinstatement of the site.
WNY had less than four weeks to develop robust construction management plans, and mobilise onsite to achieve an extremely tight programme.
